Hallmark - Defective Illuminations Starlight Tree topper
I know this is a few years old but here it is anyway...
Around late Nov.-early Dec. 2005 I purchase a Hallmark Illuminations Starlight Tree topper for (if I recall correctly) about $50.00 + tax and the power pack for another $10.00 + tax.
We used it for just over a month when it started acting up. At first the lights on the ceiling wouldn't change and eventually it wouldn't light up at all.
I took it back (w/ receipt) to the store where I purchased it and was told that I had to mail it to...they gave me an address and that it would be repaired, replaced or I would receive a certificate for the value. So I sent it. After a few weeks of not hearing anything I called them. Nobody knew anything. I was told they would look into and get back to me but no one ever did. I kept calling, many times, to no avail, and finally someone said "You sent it to the wrong address". They said they would have it forwarded to the correct facility. Again, weeks go by and nothing. I start calling, emailing, etc. Nothing. Nobody knows anything, nobody can give me any information about anything. Eventually I gave up. I still feel that Hallmark owes me the cost of the ornament PLUS the cost of shipping it to Michigan ow wherever the heck it went to, AND the cost of the aggravation.
I recently tried again, and was told that without the mailing address or any kind of paperwork such as certified mail receipt or even a tracking number, there was nothing they could do. I didn't really expect anything but I figured what the heck. What have I got to lose? Right?
My wife and I have been by Hallmark ornaments and cards and other things for 30 some years, and they know it because we use the gold crown card every time ever since they came out with it. And the STILL refuse to even acknowledge the purchase.
I will not be buying any more hallmark ANYTHING.
Monetary Loss: $60.
